Entertainment Weekly: ‘The Voice’ Champ Cassadee Pope: Learn who she’s really pulling for in season 4

Cassadee Pope, the pop-rock singer who embraced her country roots to win season 3 of The Voice for Team Blake, will be returning to The Voice stage on June 4 to debut her new single, “Wasting All These Tears.” But fans will have to wait until fall for Pope’s full not-yet-titled album, which she promises will give fans the same mix of country and rock that she delivered on the show.

“[Fans] can expect a mixture. I grew up singing country music. It’s always spoken to me; it’s always felt natural,” Pope says. “Then I had a band. I did the whole rock thing as a teenager. Now I’m merging both. It’s very relevant to country music now, there’s a lot of country-rock, country-pop going on. What you saw on the show, me covering ‘Cry’ and ‘Stupid Boy,’ that stuff is very similar to my original songs, so they can expect the same kind of vibe.”

And although Pope still keeps in touch with former coach Blake Shelton, she can’t promise that you’ll hear him on her album… but she’s working on it. ”I would love that,” she says. “I do have a song that I think would be great for him to sing on and hopefully that will work out. I still have to record that myself, so there’s still time. Hopefully we’ll get him in the studio and he’ll sing a verse or something like that.”

For now, Pope is preparing to open for The Band Perry and Rascal Flatts on the Live and Loud tour, starting May 30 and lasting through October. She’s also teamed up withOutnumber Hunger to help feed those in need. And when she gets a spare moment, which isn’t often, she tunes in to season 4 of The Voice, where she remains loyal to Team Blake. ”I’m officially The Swon Brothers’ fan,” she says. “They blew my mind. I love them, and if they won I’d be so excited. But I gotta pull for a girl again. Gotta make it balance. It was two guys; now it’s gotta be two girls. Danielle I think has a real good chance.”

Her advice to the contestants? “Keep doing what they’re doing. Obviously, people love it. Stay true to themselves. To pull something out of a hat at this point when things are going so well and people are loving what they’re doing is just not the best move.”

Idolator: Cassadee Pope’s ‘Wasting All These Tears’

The Voice has proven more consistently entertaining than its competition, but the show has yet to produce any huge stars from its winners’ roster; am I wrong for thinking all that might change with Cassadee Pope? The Season 3 winner’s new single has just been released, and “Wasting All These Tears” is an instantaneous monster of a pop-country midtempo ballad, delivering shades of Avril Lavigne‘s “I’m With You” with the melodramatic production of Carrie Underwood‘s “Two Black Cadillacs.” Lyrically, it’s magic — the details are finely wrought (“Tried to find you at the bottom of a bottle / Laying down on the bathroom floor,” she sings by way of an opening) and the chorus melody (“Standing on the corner crying / Feeling like a fool for trying”) soars majestically.

There’s just enough twang to make “Tears” fit nicely in the heartland (despite Pope’s power-pop pedigree), but the production’s pop-rock sheen could easily lend it traction at mainstream radio.

Cassadee Pope Confirms New Single "Wasting All These Tears"

Cassadee Pope has confirmed in a new interview with Charlotte radio station, 102.9, that the first single from her long-awaited (yet-to-be-titled) album will be, “Wasting All These Tears,” and is scheduled to be released on June 4th.

An excerpt from the interview can be found below.

Cassadee’s new album is expected to release in the fall via Republic Nashville.

BreatheCast: Cassadee Pope New Album & Rascal Flatts Tour 2013, “The Voice” Season 3 Winner Returns to Perform on NBC June 4th

Cassadee Pope is gearing up for a big 2013 with the release of her new album and big tour. Pope appeared on the singing show “The Voice” on NBC last season (Season 3), got picked by Team Blake (Shelton) and went on to win the entire competition.

Since “The Voice” she has been working on her debut solo record in Nashville,TN.

Cassadee just went to twitter to share some big news with her former coach, Blake Shelton. She said, “@CassadeePope: @blakeshelton sorry! I can catch you up when I see you June 4th on @NBCTheVoice I’m performing my single!”

So fans can look forward to her hitting “The Voice” stage again and letting everyone hear her new single live for the first time!

Her Facebook page does say that her first single will be released in a few weeks.

The ex-lead singer for Hey Monday, has been anxiously awaiting her her first major solo tour opening up for country super stars, Rascal Flatts.

Since Cassadee has already spent years out on the road with her former band, having fans will not be an issue and there is sure to be a great turn out for the future Pop/Country singer.

Cassadees playlist for her upcoming album will feature many personal songs about her experiences throughout her life, along with songs that will relate to everyone with the typical day to day problems. “There are songs about someone cheating or being [cheated on],” she said. “These are things I’ve never gone through personally, but as an artist, I want people to relate.”

One particular problem that Cassadees album will speak about is her ongoing absence with her father. During the taping of “The Voice”, Cassadee spoke about her struggle of living without her dad in her life and decided to write a song expressing the heartache she faced with the relationship.

She recently reunited with her father after the show and speaks very fondly of the song that was written about their relationship. “It is one of my favorites,” she admitted. “I’m sure it will strike a chord in his heart and make him a little teary eyed.”

Cassadee signed a contract with Republic of Nashville after “The Voice” and has been working hard since writing and recording the new record.

The new album still has no confirmed release date, but she has kept fans in the loop with YouTube videos of her giving sneak peeks of the albums meaning.

Cassadee will be on tour opening for Rascal Flatts, as well as The Band Perry. “Incredibly excited to announce I will be supporting the Rascal Flatts tour this summer. I’ll be playing right before The Band Perry. Yay!” stated Cassadee.

The tour will began on June 6th in Atlanta, Georgia and will continue throughout September.
